Shop At Home!

Saving the planet has never been more important than it is right now. It has become an obsession with me not to bring anything into my home that I do not need. When I am looking to add simple decorative touches to my home I shop in my own cupboards.

I got married in the late 70's. At the time it was common practise to be gifted a set of good dishes and glass stemware to match. We used them for special occasions and the rest of the time they sat inside a cupboard waiting for the next special occasion.

I quickly got over that practise and used all my dishes and glassware for everyday use. The table at times looked better than the food tasted :)

You will see in the photos that I use my Cornflower glassware for simple additions of flowers from my garden.

You will also see drapery panels that are hanging at each end of my window. Instead of running a full rod across the whole window I made side panels that hang on shorter rods. Again I went shopping in my own house for these custom made rods. If you are not a fabric addict like I am you can quite often find drapery hardware pieces in clearance sections of your favourite fabric shops. All you need is a drill and a wood dowel to create these for yourself.

We hear every day the urgency to protect our planet. It is a reality that we all need to be paying attention to. If you do one more thing today than you did yesterday to participate in the cause it will make a difference.
